Important Information Regarding the Employee Free Choice Act

The Philadelphia Branch of the Screen Actors Guild, and the Philadelphia Council AFL – CIO, are asking you to contact Senator Arlen Specter and ask him to support the “Employee Free Choice Act”. The Employee Free Choice Act, supported by a bipartisan coalition in Congress, would enable working people to bargain for better benefits, wages and working conditions by restoring workers’ freedom to choose for themselves whether to join a union. This critical legislation is relevant to all workers in the U.S., and to you as a professional actor.

Every vote in Congress counts. One of the lawmakers that can help make this a reality is our very own Senator Arlen Specter. Senator Specter has yet to declare his full support of the Employee Free Choice Act.

We are encouraging you to call him tomorrow, July 28th, toll free at 1-866-207-2060. The more calls he receives tomorrow, the more he will understand that Pennsylvania union members are in support of this bill.

Screen Actors Guild continues to work vigorously with the National AFL-CIO in support of the Employee Free Choice Act. From frequent visits to Capitol Hill to the making a performers’ video with our sister unions www.artists4workerschoice.org, we will continue to work together to ensure the passage of this critical legislation.
