It has come to the attention of Screen Actors Guild that there is inaccurate information being spread on the internet and various other chat groups about Charlton Heston and financial core. While a member’s classification with their union is a confidential matter, the misrepresentation that Mr. Heston was financial core with the Screen Actors Guild demands official clarification.

Charlton Heston first joined the board in 1960 as a replacement and served as the Vice President from 1961 to 1965 when he became President. Mr. Heston served as the President of the Screen Actors Guild from 1965 to 1971 and he was granted Life Membership in SAG in 2005. Charlton Heston was awarded the guild’s annual Life Achievement Award in 1971 for his years of dedication and service. Mr. Heston passed away on April 5, 2008 leaving behind him an acclaimed history as a truly professional actor and union advocate.
As an outspoken Hollywood legend, Mr. Heston was both respected and criticized for expressing his convictions, whether they proved popular or not. While he was known as an open supporter of right-to-work legislation, Mr. Heston always remained a member of Screen Actors Guild. In 1991, he declared financial core with Actors Equity over a disputed hiring activity, but he never declared financial core with Screen Actors Guild and remained a member in good standing until his death.
