Since 1953, the vast majority of television commercials produced in the U.S. have been made under the Screen Actors Guild contract.
Commercials are advertising programs generally under 3 minutes in length and intended for use on broadcast and cable television, foreign, theatrical, industrial (jumbotrons, etc.), Internet (including webisodes) or new media (which includes emerging platforms). Commercials longer than 3 minutes are subject to separate bargaining between the Union and Producer.
