Screen Actors Guild has been busy both getting out the word on its contracts for New Media and collecting information from producers and others working in the space. Below are a few of the events SAG has attended over the past year.
CES – The Consumer Electronics Show is the largest annual tradeshow in the world for consumer electronics. More than 140,000 attendees from the entertainment and electronics fields converged in Las Vegas to discuss the future of entertainment. Screen Actors Guild staff and members have attended in force to learn what’s on the horizon.
Sundance – The Sundance Film Festival is one of the largest and most prestigious film festivals in the world. It attracts more than 50,000 industry professionals, many of whom are employing new technologies to create and distribute their entertainment products. Members and staff are on hand to discuss our SAG agreements and the impact of technology on entertainment.
NAB – The National Association of Broadcasters holds a yearly convention, that brings together more than 105,000 industry professionals and 1,600 exhibitors to look at the future of broadcast media. Staff attended a week of conferences covering the fast evolving topics of IPTV , podcasting, and digital cinema.
Search and Media Summit – This summit was the first conference to examine in depth the profound connection between entertainment media and search engines. Screen Actors Guild staff attend to learn about the metrics collected by the search engines in hopes of discovering methods of tracking online content delivery.
Hollywood and Games Summit – The summit brings together traditional Hollywood players with new media and interactive game developers. Screen Actors Guild sponsored this year’s event in 2008 by hosting a booth in the exhibition hall where members and staff passed out literature and spoke with producers about their upcoming productions.
Austin Game Developers Conference – Screen Actors Guild sponsors this conference which brings more than 1500 video game industry professionals to the third largest video game development community in the U.S. At the event local members, branch staff, Hollywood members and Hollywood staff speak to developers and the media about the process of working with professional talent in the video game space.
NextFest – Wired magazine’s NextFest is a 21st century World's Fair. Screen Actors Guild sponsors the four-day festival of innovative products and technologies that are transforming our world. This year's event featured over 160 interactive exhibits from leading scientists and researchers around the world on the future of communication, design, entertainment, and green living.
