Actor Bio
Robyn is an award-winning NYC producer and performer with experience in New York City theatre for more than fifteen years. She is the Co-Founder of the Drama Desk and Obie award-winning Off-Broadway theatre company, Transport Group. For the six years she served as Founding Executive Director, she produced and starred in Transport Group productions for which the company received the 2007 Drama Desk and Obie awards for its breadth of vision and presentation of challenging productions and two Drama Desk award nominations for Outstanding Musical (THE AUDIENCE) and for Outstanding revival of a musical (FIRST LADY SUITE -- in which Hussa portrayed Jacqueline Kennedy alongside an unforgettable cast including Audra McDonald).
 
Other career highlights in New York City include Kayla in the national tour of NORMAL THE MUSICAL, Maria Bratislava in EPHEMERA at Ariel Tepper's Summer Play Festival, at Joe's Pub in her one-woman show OLD FASHIONED GIRL, and playing Jacqueline Kennedy in Michael John LaChiusa's FIRST LADY SUITE as part of the New York Historical Society's exhibit on First Ladies alongside Mary Testa, Julia Murney, Judy Blazer, Donna Lynne Champlin, Audra McDonald and Mary Beth Piel.
 
In 2006 she left her work as producer and performer in New York City theatre to create Mental Fitness -- educating in schools and universities about eating disorders and body image using arts and mindfulness programs. Since then, Ms. Hussa has served as CEO of Mental Fitness and is a national speaker and published author. For her work on this effort she received the 2010 Champion in Women's Health award from Ms. Sue Ann Thompson and the Wisconsin Women's Health Foundation and she is a recognized national Keynote presenter at arts, medical, educational conferences nationwide.
 
Hussa is an author in the book: Yoga for Eating Disorders (published by Routledge) and self-published prevention-focused books: Healthy Selfitude, 5 Minute Mindfulness Exercises for Classroom Teachers, and is Editor and Author of the award-winning body image blog site: We Are The Real Deal.
 
As Producer, Hussa is currently working for her own production company, White Elephant Enterprises as Director on several key projects; including: Seeing Spartanburg in a New Light -- Highland Video Village installation funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies, and two large community documentary film projects. She was Producer of The Walking Hospital, by Tim Farrell (2012 selection for the Napa Valley Film Festival) and featured exhibit in the Rubin Museum of Art in New York.
 
Robyn holds an MFA-Acting from the University of Virginia, is a member of AEA, AFTRA-SAG, the Academy for Eating Disorders, The International Association for Eating Disorders Professionals, New York Women in Film and Television, and is an E-RYT Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance. She lives in Spartanburg, SC where she manages White Elephant Enterprises with her husband Tim Farrell.
