Los Angeles (June 12, 2006) —The Ethnic Employment Opportunities Committees of Screen Actors Guild (SAG), The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) and Actors Equity (AEA), today hosted the fourth annual Ivy Bethune Diversity Awards, which honor individuals who exemplify and encourage diversity in the entertainment industry. Actor Edward James Olmos was the tri-union honoree. SAG selected actor Robert David Hall, currently a cast member on CSI. KNBC-4 newscaster Beverly White was selected by AFTRA. Margo Albert, who established the Plaza de la Raza arts complex in Los Angeles, was honored posthumously by Actors Equity.

Themed “Honoring Our Trailblazers,” the awards ceremony took place at East West Players in Downtown Los Angeles. The awards are named for actress Ivy Bethune who has tirelessly dedicated her 80-plus years to civil rights and equal opportunity. Past honorees have included Ossie Davis, Beulah Quo, Will Sampson and E.Y (Yip) Harburg.
