Los Angeles (December 12, 2005) --- Dancers need protection--and the Washington Ballet refuses to provide it. Despite ongoing negotiations, the Washington Ballet refuses to provide its dancers with any reasonable level of protection against injury, job security or professional respect.

The dancers want what any other employees want: a safe working environment, protection against discrimination, protection against mean-spirited, vindictive and arbitrary treatment, and a contract that guarantees their rights as employees and as great dancers.

Greenlight Oregon Will Help to Create Family Wage Jobs

(August 24, 2005) – Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski signed a bill Monday at a sound stage in Portland that creates the Greenlight Oregon program, which will strengthen Oregon's film and video industry and create family wage jobs by offering an incentive to production companies to shoot films, television shows and commercials here. Los Angeles (August 24, 2005) --- Thousands of Screen Actors Guild members who worked in California may be entitled to monies stemming from the “Greenberg Class Action” lawsuit that seeks damages from a number of payroll houses, studios, and production companies for alleged violations of certain provisions of the California Labor Code. The Guild, which is not involved in the lawsuit, has established a hotline recording to help answer questions that members may have in their effort to recoup possible damages.

SAG members are advised not to accept any employment on this animated series until they have confirmed with SAG that the producer’s signatory status has changed. Employment on Tutenstein will currently subject a SAG member to a Rule One Violation.

The SAG National Board has voted to send ballots to approve or reject the proposed 2005 Interactive Media Agreement to those members who work under this Agreement, as well as any member in good standing who requests a ballot.

Members who have reported earnings under this contract will be automatically mailed a ballot on July 13, 2005. Replacement ballots may be obtained by calling SAG’s Membership department at (323) 549-6778. The deadline for members who work in the video game industry to request replacement ballots is 12 p.m. PDT on July 25, 2005.

Thyvronn Verlin Hill, 40, of Los Angeles, was convicted by a jury of two counts of petty theft (of labor), eight counts of false advertising, and one count of doing business in Los Angeles without a business tax registration certificate.
