The producer of the basic cable television series Forensic Files, which airs on Court TV, is not yet signed to an agreement with Screen Actors Guild covering the terms and conditions for performers and background actors employed on the series.

Guild members are reminded of their obligation not to accept employment on any non-signatory project, as well as their obligation to confirm with the Guild that a project is signatory. Employment on any non-signatory project within the Guild's jurisdiction may subject a member to a Rule One violation.

New York (December 4, 2006) -- Screen Actors Guild is saddened to report the death of former New York Branch President Lee Zimmer.

Los Angeles (November 30, 2006)---The Directors Guild of America, Screen Actors Guild, and Writers Guilds of America, East and West joined in a legal brief filed today, arguing new standards adopted by the Federal Communications Commission to censor “indecency” in TV, film, and radio are overly vague and unconstitutional.

Stairway to Hell is a Non-Equity Production

New York (November 15, 2006) --- Screen Actors Guild, Actors' Equity Association, American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, American Guild of Musical Artists and American Guild of Variety Artists members are advised that Actors' Equity Association does NOT have a contract for Stairway to Hell, a "live project" workshop produced by David Delzio, Casting Directors Matt Cowart and Isaac Klein now casting in New York City.

Los Angeles (November 14, 2006) --- The AFL-CIO elected Screen Actors Guild (SAG) President Alan Rosenberg to its Executive Council today in Washington D.C. Rosenberg, whose term will run until the summer of 2007, fills a seat vacated by former Guild President Melissa Gilbert, who had served on the federation's council for five years before stepping down-and recommending Rosenberg for the position. Rosenberg will concentrate on issues that affect the Guild and the Associated Actors and Artistes of America (4A's).

Christie, whose new term will run for one year, has served in the position since 2004 and remains a national board member until 2009. Los Angeles (October 4, 2006) – The Hollywood Board of Screen Actors Guild (SAG) yesterday elected Kent McCord as the union’s 1st national vice president. McCord, whose term will run for one year, replaces Anne-Marie Johnson, who had served two one-year terms in that role and remains a national board member until 2009.

Los Angeles (September 21, 2006) –Screen Actors Guild (SAG) today announced election results for the Guild’s national board of directors. Twenty-four of the 69 national board seats were contested in this election, representing Screen Actors Guild’s Hollywood, New York and Regional Branch Divisions.

The newly elected national board members will assume office on September 25 for terms of varying lengths. The next national board meeting is October 21-22 in Los Angeles.

Los Angeles (September 20, 2006) -- Screen Actors Guild today announced the promotions of Laura Beedy Ritchie and William Bensussen to deputy general counsel. Bensussen will focus on the Guild's collective bargaining and contract enforcement initiatives, while Ritchie will focus on issues of legal strategy and policy. Both attorneys previously served as assistant general counsel for the Guild and, along with New York-based Deputy General Counsel Ray Rodriguez, will continue to report directly to General Counsel Duncan Crabtree-Ireland. The promotions are effective immediately.

Los Angeles (September 6, 2006) --- Screen Actors Guild announced today the promotion of two veteran executives to key senior staff positions. Duncan Crabtree-Ireland has assumed the role of general counsel, while Todd Amorde has been named to the newly created position of national director of organizing. Both Union Memberships now set to vote on two-year deal that bumps rates 6%, commissions study on compensation, and extends jurisdiction into new media

Los Angeles (August 4, 2006)—Screen Actors Guild (SAG) today released the official list of candidates for its upcoming national board elections. Starting May 11, 2006, Screen Actors Guild residuals mailings will have a new look. Separate sheets of paper in a basic white envelope will replace the previous design, which contained a check inside a printed yellow sleeve. The new statements will contain all of the same useful information that was found in the previous format, and will be accompanied by your residuals check. This format change is intended to be more user-friendly for members, as well as cost-effective for the Guild.

Los Angeles (May 3, 2006) – Screen Actors Guild executive and former member Tom La Grua has been named interim deputy national executive director for contracts, it was announced today by the Guild. A four-year Guild executive, La Grua will administrate the Contracts Department nationwide while the Guild conducts a search for a permanent replacement for Sallie Weaver, the 20-year executive who vacated the position on May 1.

Guild President Alan Rosenberg recently testified in Washington D.C. before the Senate Commerce Committee and urged lawmakers to oppose legislation that would increase FCC indecency fines for individual performers to $500,000. Rosenberg has since returned to Washington D.C. and met with several key senators to explain the disastrous impact these fines would have on actors. Now we need your help.

Los Angeles (April 24, 2006) – Screen Actors Guild (SAG) announced today that it has reached a landmark agreement with Touchstone Television (a unit of the ABC Television Network) covering so-called “mobisodes” for the television series Lost. These negotiated terms demonstrate an important collaboration between artists and employers in their effort to lay the groundwork for future mobile content and other new technology agreements.

Los Angeles (April 21, 2006) – The Screen Actors Guild National Board today unanimously ratified the recently negotiated Basic Cable Animation agreement. The new contract, which goes into effect immediately, is retroactive to January 1, 2006 and will run through June 30, 2008.

Open Hollywood Board Meeting March 27

In the interest of transparency, the Hollywood Division board will open its March 27 meeting to members-at-large for observation. Guild archives indicate that is a landmark event. All members who would like to attend must be in good standing, affiliated with the Guild's Hollywood Division and willing to comply with observation procedures. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The board meeting is scheduled for 6-9 p.m. March 27 in the James Cagney Boardroom at 5757 Wilshire Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90036.

Los Angeles (March 28, 2006) – In a major victory for actors performing in animated programs made for basic cable, Screen Actors Guild negotiators have secured a 20 percent increase in residuals as part of a tentative agreement reached between the Guild and the major producers of animated basic cable programming (including Walt Disney Pictures & Television, Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network Studios).

Los Angeles (March 27, 2006) --- A statement from Screen Actors Guild President Alan Rosenberg:

"During the last week, Screen Actors Guild held caucuses in five cities—San Francisco, Miami, Chicago, New York and Hollywood—to discuss our ongoing negotiations to secure a new contract covering live action programs made directly for Basic Cable. Member turnout was tremendous. An inspiring range of actors—from high-profile performers who star on their own shows to rank-and-file members who struggle to qualify for health insurance—stood side by side in solidarity.

The Guild will hold a caucus on April 10 in Hollywood for members to review the tentative agreement reached between the Guild's negotiating committee and producers of animation shows made for basic cable television, before it is considered for ratification by the national board at its April 21-22 meeting. Under the terms of the agreement, ratification by the Guild must take place by April 30, 2006.

Los Angeles (March 16, 2006) – Screen Actors Guild today announced that the U.S. Department of Labor’s review of an election challenge filed against the Guild’s national officers has ended with the department taking no action, which finalizes the Guild’s election of President Alan Rosenberg and Secretary-Treasurer Connie Stevens. The election was held this past September and both Rosenberg and Stevens’ terms run through September 2007.

A Strike Authorization Vote on the Basic Cable Live Action Agreement will be Taken at Each Meeting

All paid-up* Guild members who work under the SAG Basic Cable Live Action Agreement (The Closer on TNT, The Shield on FX) or paid-up members interested in these negotiations are urged to attend. The Guild has been negotiating with producers for several months, yet the producers' last offer does not reflect the extraordinary growth of the cable industry.

Denver (March 1, 2006) --- In the long and arduous fight between pro-union supporters and Right-to-Work advocates, Colorado has long been considered a key battleground state. Well, great news for Guild members and unionists everywhere: The Labor movement scored a major victory on February 13 as Colorado's proposed Right-to-Work legislation (Senate Bill 139) was narrowly defeated 4 to 3 in committee.

LOS ANGELES (February 8, 2006) – Actors and storytellers staged a demonstration on Wednesday protesting their exclusion from an entertainment industry debate on product integration in TV and film. The protest follows an earlier call by the Writers Guild of America, west (WGAw), Writers Guild of America, East (WGAe), and Screen Actors Guild (SAG) for the industry to adopt a “Code of Conduct” to govern the use and disclosure of such advertising.

12th ANNUAL SCREEN ACTORS GUILD AWARDS VOTING REMINDER

Nominations for the 12th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards® were announced January 5. For a full list of nominees, please visit the SAG Awards Web site at www.sagawards.org. Ballots were mailed to all active, paid-up Guild members January 6. If you haven't received a ballot and are eligible to receive one, you should get it soon.

Los Angeles (January 10, 2006) – Screen Actors Guild announced today the promotion of two veteran employees to national director positions that each oversees key Guild contracts. Sandy Kincaid has been named national director of commercial and industrial contracts, while Karen Borell has assumed the role of national director of entertainment contracts. Both promotions are effective immediately.

Los Angeles (January 5, 2006) ---- Nominations for the 12th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards® for outstanding performances in 2005 in five film and eight primetime television categories were announced today at the Pacific Design Center’s SilverScreen Theater.

Screen Actors Guild President Alan Rosenberg introduced Ellen Pompeo (Grey’s Anatomy ) and Benjamin Bratt (E-Ring), who announced the nominees for this year’s Actors®.
